The Australian female sprinting stable keeps growing.
The Australian girls' 400-meter free relay defeated the US with Olivia Wunsch's 52.
Erika Pelaez, an NC State recruit, was the only other U.S.
swimmer in the field sub-54 with a 53.89 anchor, more than a second slower than Wunsch's epic split.
Wunsch's 52.61 split is quicker than all American World Championships competitors save Kate Douglass (52.28),
but slower than Australia's world-record-breaking quartet of Mollie O'Callaghan (52.08),
Shayna Jack (51.69), Meg Harris (52.29), and Emma McKeon (51.90).
Wunsch's new lifetime best in the 50-meter freestyle would have qualified him for the World Championships final this year,
