For some Buffalo Bills fans, Nick Chubb's catastrophic knee injury on Monday Night Football brought back painful memories.
The Cleveland Browns running back was taken off the field during his team's September 18 game against the Pittsburgh Steelers,
the third consecutive Monday Night Football game to see a severe medical emergency. Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers suffered a torn Achilles against the Bills last week,
and last year's last Monday Night Football game is one Bills fans will never forget — Damar Hamlin's on-field collapse, which resulted in a lengthy hospital stay and a postponed game.
Other Bills supporters recalled a similar injury suffered by a former Buffalo running back, which provided a glimmer of hope for the lengthy recuperation Chubb may now endure.
Chubb was injured in the second quarter of Monday's game, collapsing after being tackled by Minkah Fitzpatrick.
Chubb's injury was so severe that the Monday Night Football program chose not to show replays, prompting some Bills fans to recall the pain of Hamlin's collapse.
"Announcers won't show Nick Chubb's injury but will replay Damar Hamlin dying on the field?" one fan asked on X, now known as Twitter.
