Novak Djokovic breaks the record for most Grand Slam semifinal appearances with his triumph at the US Open.

Novak Djokovic keeps breaking records.

The 36-year-old Serbian defeated Taylor Fritz in straight sets (6-1, 6-4, 6-4) in the U.S. Open quarterfinals on Tuesday (business as usual).

This quarterfinal win shattered a record he shared with Roger Federer for two months.

Djokovic will play his 47th Grand Slam semifinal on Friday, a record for men's tennis.

Federer reached 46 Grand Slam semifinals. He beat Jimmy Connor's record of 31 in his 2012 Wimbledon quarterfinal match, which he won.

He reached 23 semifinals from 2004 to 2010. He won 31 of 46 semis.

However, Djokovic tied that mark overseas in July by arranging his Wimbledon semifinal match.

That match went his way, but Carlos Alcaraz won the final.Djokovic might meet Alcaraz again on Sunday for his 24th Grand Slam.

With 43 semifinals appearances, Djokovic started the year.

This year, he won the Australian Open and French Open and made four straight. His 46 semifinal matches are 35-11.
