Texas coach Steve Sarkisian replies to Big 12 commissioner's remarks, issues a challenge to Texas Tech
Texas coach Steve Sarkisian is dismissing Big 12 commissioner Brett Yormark's remarks.
Yormark spoke at Texas Tech's Red Raider Club luncheon earlier this month, telling fans in Lubbock that he
will be at the Red Raiders' game versus Texas on Nov. 24 - Texas' final Big 12 game before heading to the SEC.
Yormark then made a direct challenge to Joey McGuire, the coach of Texas Tech.
When Yormark mentioned Texas Tech's 37-34 overtime triumph against Texas last season, he was definitely playing to the Lubbock crowd.
However, with the Longhorns on their way out of the conference, it's hard to blame him for cheering against them this season.
In any case, those statements have gotten a lot of attention in the days afterwards, particularly in Austin, where the preseason motto has been "embrace the hate.
Texas, the Big 12's preseason favorite, hasn't won the league since 2009. Next season, Texas and Oklahoma will join the SEC, while Utah, Arizona, Arizona State, and Colorado will join the Big 12.
