Texas football is under fire over Arch Manning's decision.

During the offseason, supporters learned that Texas' backup quarterback, Arch Manning, was in the running for the job.

Although fans learned after the opener that Maalik Murphy would serve as Ewers' backup, they were still disappointed since they didn't get to see former No. 1 overall recruit Arch Manning in action.

The highly regarded freshman was even seen warming up on the sidelines, leading fans to hope that Steve Sarkisian would give him a shot.

Instead, Texas fans had to settle for watching Manning play catch on the sidelines. College football season openers typically allow strong teams like Texas

to play many quarterbacks and provide crucial field experience for their second and third-string quarterbacks.

Fans were irritated when Sarkisian refused to send Manning in even with the game well in control, and many took to the internet to vent their rage.

Similarly, Quandre Diggs, a former Seattle Seahawks defender, criticized the Texas Longhorns' offensive performance.

Diggs, a Texas Longhorns football player, slammed starter quarterback Quinn Ewers, saying, "X should have 200 yards receiving already if the damn ball was thrown accurate!"
