Gil Brandt, a legendary league scout, died.
We mourn the loss of Gil Brandt, a sports pioneer and icon. Gil was instrumental in the Dallas Cowboys' early success and remained a terrific spokesman for the team for decades.
His accomplishments earned him a Ring of Honor "statement from Jerry Jones.
"He was my friend and mentor to me and countless NFL executives, coaches, players, and broadcasters,
earning him a spot in the Pro Football Hall of Fame where his legacy will be celebrated forever."
After decades with the Cowboys, Brandt oversaw numerous significant deals and draft decisions.
